Thanks. I know it is a popular view about Brown but he was easy to hate. He was the accountant made good but lacked imagination and did get virtually given West Ham but after years of association with the Cearns family and WH iirc?

I think Brown owned a camp site with more than managing a caravan site but point taken. Yes I think you've let your memory fade too because he paid himself £500k pa iirc. I part justified it in my mind as an MD paying staff huge sums and thinking he should get something similar...

However, that aside Brown wasn't so bad for me as a season ticket holder that lived in Kent and didn't often read newspapers. I don't think he would ever speak to any media so he definitely never told lies and we always knew that when the club needed cash, a player got sold. Brown could not finance deep losses so had little alternative. Laughable now that Brown pushed the boat out to get a £4m laon and sign Hartson & Kitson to save us from relegation.

AS for G&S? Far worse than Brown imho. David Gold lied about a Tweet regarding the £16.4m they took as loan and accrued interest payments after years of telling us they took nothing from the club. He replied and said "That's not true". I sent him the page and item numbers.

So Gold lied to me personally. Brown never did that. Then I look at all the statements back to when they first bought the club and talked about getting the Olympic Stadium in January 2010. Now according to Gold, he didn't want to lose UP because it was where he grew up la di dah di dah.

How about when Gold Brady & Sullivan said we would not move unless the pitch was the same distance form the seats?

How about the 40 odd strikers we've signed? How about the press leaks about signing £40m Carvalho only to have Sporting call Sullivan a liar publicly? How about Brady's weekly column where she ruins the relationship with Leicester and others so that they won't deal with us?

How about the 10 point plan from early 2010 where we were targeting CL and top 6 by 2017? And in the words of Frank Lampard junior, spending £29m net while promising CL and Top 6 at the OS....?

The worst aspect of all for me is the continual denial by Sullivan that he buys players. All of the problem players are the manager's choice and the successful ones he takes credit for. And then on Page 7, Paragraph 6 of this year's accounts, the Board's thanks go to David Sullivan for his role as Director of Football....

Liars and cheats that play at being Football Manager and then look to blame professionals for Sullivan's failings as a manager of people, football and everything except being a greedy little shit which he excels at....

Fuck Gold Sullivan and their bitch Brady.

Well put, but let's face it blindingly obvious and only a thick cunt would argue otherwise.

Well, a think cunt or an obtuse, desperate, attention seeking fuckwit. Or both.

Re: The alternate view
Gold and Sullivan are a great deal worse, in my view, than Brown, simply on the basis of the magnitude of what they've done, not because there's necessarily a moral difference between them.

Brown was simply small time and tight. We were mainly shit under his stewardship with he occasional bright spots which we unceasingly failed to capitalise upon.

Gold and Sullivan have moved us to a fucking athletics stadium out in the middle of nowhere, actively tried to alienate and exclude the historic fanbase as a matter of corporate policy, lied relentlessly about virtually everything and anything of importance, and generally, for many people, absolutely ruined something that was a big part of their lives, often for generations.

There's no comparison with what Brown did. That's why so many instinctively recognise this as such a low point in their experience. I was chuffed at what happened yesterday and glad I was there. If it achieves nothing else it lets them know how utterly despised they are by many.

Ok , lets reverse this....why should i be pleased about what the board has done....dont tell me they saved us, cause that aint really true is it.....

All i see is broken promises, hence why people cant stand them.

How many promises need to be broken before you crack?

Old Geezer. In your original post you say what you’re against, you’re against people who are against the board but you don’t say what you’re for. Presumably you are in favour of the board and their actions. That being the case, how do you sustain your view given the reams of evidence that shows them as dishonest, manipulating egotists intent on running the club solely for their own financial benefit?

Real problem here is I’m not sure how the fuck we get out of this mess. I suppose actually winning a game would help.

Re: The alternate view
The most ridiculous thing about this situation, they didn't have to do much to get away with it!!! could have been the crime of the century, pink panther would have doffed his cap. All they had to do was get us 7th/8th and Dick Turpin would have lost his No 1 Highway Robbery Ranking,, instead they got greedy and pushed it that had too far! They could of had it all, the sale of the Boleyn, the Sky dosh, the 2nd highest season ticket sales in the country in a rent free stadium where their only real costs are wages! It takes a special kind of next level fuckwittery to fuck up the way they have.

Willtell

It's a close run thing as we're comparing two sets of disastrous owners, but on balance I still think Brown was worse.

People talk of Gold and Sullivan milking the club but Brown was the manager of a caravan park when he bought the club. He installed himself as Chairman and paid himself a £450,000 a year salary, at the time the highest in English football.

How can the Chairman of West am be paid more than the Chairman of Liverpool, Man Utd or Arsenal?

He was responsible for allowing the extraordinary corruption of the Redknapp years, where players were traded in and out always by the same agent and always with brown envelopes stuffed with cash finding their way into the right pockets.

Our club became a revolting gravy train of bungs and side deals, with players being traded like sacks of flour. We made some of the worst signings in English football history - players like Titi Camara, Paolo Futre, Marco Boogers - with many of them hardly kicking a ball for the club before they were traded out again.

I remember seeing Titi Camara warming up in front of me during a game once and thinking I have never seen such an overweight player even in my Sunday League days. He looked like the Michelin man.

Brown built the laughable "West Ham Quality Hotel" and opened the West Ham museum, two monumentally stupid ideas which just brought ridicule on the club. And then there was the Bond scheme...

I don't know, everyone's entitled to their opinion but Brown for me was worse than the current clowns.

Re: The alternate view
People should be saying so what now?
Forget all the mud slinging and people being called out, its time to actually think of a plan, a proper strategy if you like.

Before yesterday there was a load of unorganised chaos and infighting which had the board rubbing their hands.
Yesterday, the blue touch paper was properly lit and there is no going back. What would be the point, its all or nothing.

What I would say is there have been some long term relationships seriously damaged in the past few weeks.
But sometimes to win you have to go near the precipice.
We have one common thing, West Ham United, that's what brought most together on the day and throughout most our days.

Time for people to man up, and turn attention on its future and the perilous state the owners have brought upon us for their own financial gain and not the best interests of the club, OUR CLUB.

Without owning a stadium we have no asset and are vulnerable and exposed.
Next steps need to be carefully thought out but the hope is the board buy the stadium for a quid, sell it and fuck off.

Until then, divided, not working together, disorganised, broken, the fans are weaker.
Time to make sure the deal goes through with pressure on Khan doing the review. Its the first building block for hopefully getting us out of this complete mess the board have brought upon us, THE CLUB.

KLM....I know exactly why I detest the trio who are ruining this club, under the pretext of running it.

I knew exactly why I hated them whilst they were at Birmingham City, a club that I have no time for whatsoever.

I even remember the documentary about that club and their running of it years back when Brady said something along the lines of "Kidderminster Harriers, who are they"?, before their club was dumped out of the cup against them.

Hammer and Pickle 12:56 Sun Mar 11
Re: The alternate view
Here's a thought - run the club properly, stop trying to alienate the hard-core fan and get a football strategy. People won't have cause to complain, and guess what, they won't hurt your poor sensitive feelings either.

'Not everyone is going to have the same opinion, but arguing amongst ourselves is not the answer.'

Arguing is fine, mate, It's what the game is all about and why I don't want video refs.

Threatening violence against fellow West Ham fans because they disagree with you is where the line is crossed. You may think the other fellow is a cretin but you have to accept that he also wants the best for his club. Once you accept that, it all gets a bit less heated.
